Beach House Staycay

Aloha
It's very hard to even get to the computer at the Beach House at the moment, as it's still school holidays around these parts.  However, when my mother asked me 'Did you Blog today?'  Well it's time for the Beach House Brats to move over for half an hour, so their mama can let her know I'm still here.

As long as I give them an hour or so on the computer each day,  I can pretty much take them anywhere and these cafes have been my choice destinations over the last week.

The Armchair Collective in Mona Vale and the Boat House Cafe and Bar at Palm Beach are my two favourites.  The layered flowers and beautiful home wares are inspiring and as long as the kiddos get a hot chocolate and half a muffin they are happy to mind my bag, whilst I shoot around with my camera.

These lovely flowers inspired me to conduct a $50 Spring garden make over last weekend.  Just some white petunias and rosemary in the garden surrounding my deck, so no need for a shot as you've seen it plenty of times.  It just looks a little neater and has mulch spread all over it, but hopefully the cow poo and extra plants will help it to shine for Summer.

Today is bikes and a picnic down at the park with friends. We are having unseasonally cool weather, which has been most disconcerting, but we are making the most of it and getting out and about.  But it better heat up soon or I'll start raving on about the South of France again.  Our house swap seems to have fallen through and with the economy the way it is, it's still a distant dream, but one none the less, that I have every day.

Even though I often refer to the fact I live in paradise, I do sometimes feel a little isolated up here in the far north of Sydney, so a few days ago I bundled up one of the Beach House Brats and we drove to the Eastern Suburbs for the day. For those of you that don't know, this is the part of Sydney that is the most affluent and hippest part of the city.

I drove the kiddo around showing him all the little places that I flatted in my wild single days. We had a lovely meal and a look at all the great shops. I often feel I am missing out on all the action, having moved up to Mr Beach House's side of the city when we married. But I only need a 6 monthly fix of my old stomping ground, to know that I am living the dream life up here on the beaches.

Well, I will leave you with these shots of my locale as I am being hassled to pass the computer mantle back to the next generation.  Time to get the bikes out, make the sandwiches and get out of the house before the kiddos eye's turn square.

  4. I love your photos in and around Sydney. Delightful post. I noticed how cute little miss beach house is in her layered outfit and if that's not her it's still an adorable photo.

  5. You live in a very beautiful spot in Sydney, much better than the Eastern suburbs, I think. More laid back coastal and quieter. I love seeing the cafes and shops you go too. I am so jealous, that you have that on your doorstep everyday. Have a great day! Leahx

  9. Haven't heard of either of these shops but they look amazing. Fancy meeting for a coffee at the Palm Beach one some time next week? I have to go up that way to see my kitchen guy, so would love to meet up if kids are back in school.
