Life by the Sea

When you live on a peninsula with a beautiful harbour on one side and the Pacific Ocean on the other the possibilities are endless.  And so it was that this weekend,  2 days in late Spring, turned out to be just perfect for the soul.

On Friday I met up with a new blogging friend for lunch at the Boat House cafe, Mel from Georgica Pond.  I texted her afterwards to say 'I came away smiling'.  A delightful girl with a wonderful blog and we of course have so much in common.  Afterwards,  I wafted around in my kaftan taking shots of the everyday in this beautiful paradise.

Then onto Saturday.....After the run around of morning swimming lessons and a look at a few dream home opens, we retired to the beach house for a spot of painting.  The whole Beach House crew got involved with this conversion from black to white.  I found this baby on the side of the road.  The canvas ticking needed  respringing and there are a few loose nails, but this would have to one of my best finds yet.  Watch this space for a blue and white transformation of my front porch.

Then on to the beach for a late  afternoon dip....the water was still very cold, as you can see from all the wetsuits in play.  It never stops the Beach House Brats though.

This is one happy mama here...oh the simple pleasures are always the best.

You can tell it's after 5pm here in this shot, as the rangers have knocked off, so the dogs come out to play.

Us beachy types are not great at following the rules.

This is my little gem magnolia budding on Sunday

And in bloom by Monday morning.  There were 5 bees here but my best shot only had 2.  I think they are as happy as I am with this flower.

Sunday and it was down to the yacht club.  My kids are so lucky to be growing up in such a beautiful place. I am delirious with joy, watching them grow into the good people they will hopefully become.

Have a great week people.

Today I am partying here

  1. It was so great to meet you and lovely to find out how much we have in common. Let's do it often! What an amazing weekend you had, the photos are wonderful. You really do live in a pretty heavenly part of the world. That cane lounge is brilliant - I want one for my cabana. Next time you spot something like that on the side of the road think of me!

Love the serviettes, I too was teaching 13/ 15 and 18 yr olds serviette folds at a restaurant wed night. How funny was that!
