Santa's Fat Tummy Cup Cakes

Hi Chicks!!! Wanna make your kiddos end of year class party rock? Well, instead of taking some generic treat for the table, make some of these Too Easy Santa's fat tummy cup cakes.  This little icon has been doing the rounds of the blogosphere this season.  I've seen it on wreaths, but as yet not on cup cakes, so I thought I would oblige.

This is the simplest cup cake decoration ever and will make your kiddo top of the class, at least amongst their peers anyway.  I have made a batch of these for this afternoon's class beach bash.
Here's how I did it!!!!!.  Make some cupcakes.....any will do......from scratch, a packet cake or hey even buy them uniced, if you are pressed for time and who isn't?

Make or buy some red frosting.  I made some and decided to pipe it onto the cupcake so as  to avoid any knife marks on the cake.  Just spoon it into a zip lock bag and cut off the tinniest snip in the bottom corner.  My cakes rose in the middle but not on the sides, which only added to the 'fat tummy' theme.  But who cares how they come out, cause the kids are gunna love these, either with a flat tummy or a pop out version.

I bought some stripped licorice and cut it to size.

Place the licorice about one third the way up the cup cake.

I used bought writing frosting to pipe on a buckle and some buttons.

and hey presto Santa has arrived.  I think I'm having more fun this Christmas than my kids.  Certainly, it's the best lead up to Christmas I've had since I found out the truth about the big fella.  To see how much I am loving the season, have a look at my Too Easy Christmas ideas to inspire some simple creativity in your world.
