Queen Elizabeth Street Party Fare for the Diamond Jubilee

I am definitely not a celebrity watcher.  I can honestly say I have never bought a magazine based on people watching gossip.  These days I don't even know the names of half the actors gracing our screens.  Babyland can do that to you.  But there is one set of celebrities that I am very interested in.  I have thought about it and really don't know why I am so fascinated by them.  Perhaps it's the thought of never having to struggle financially, the wearing of beautiful designer clothes on a daily basis.  Or meeting fascinating people constantly.  Or just that these people were born into it and how lucky (or unlucky) that is!!!!!

I admire and respect Queen Elizabeth and her family very much. If only for the fact that the style of democracy they represent has given us our wonderfully free and egalitarian society. But it's more than that.  Her majesty in particular has given so much in the way of service to her people.  Through the good times and the bad, personally and publicly, she has been the main stay, the one constant in this ever changing world.

Through her reign she has been out shone at times but she is still the one standing after all these years.  She has listened to her people and responded where necessary.  She has been figuratively knocked down, but she has got up again.  You have to admire that.

So I wish Queen Elizabeth and her people a wonderful Diamond Jubilee this week

And if you are having your own little street party and want to know how to decorate this cake go here

  2. God love the Queen. Last night I was chatting to he youngest of he girl tribe (12) 'The Queen has been through a first world war and a second, strived through an industrial revolution, technology revolution and now a country in havoc! I was very impressed with my speech I might add, not being a rue royalist. Did you know that all HRH's corkies are descenent of the original Corky she received for her 18th birthday. Happy Jubilee....I'll be celebrating with a Jubilee Jelly!!!

  6. When I was a child, I was fascinated by Princess Anne - I kept a scrapbook of pictures of her. I was thrilled when we saw HMY Brittania arriving in Melbourne in 1970. I remember going out to stand by the river to watch.

Later, I was mesmerized by Diana, Princes of Wales - she was born the same year as me, and I loved her clothes and sense of style.

You patriot you! Love everything Jubilee and everything royal. My husband just came back from London today having been at the River Pageant on Sunday - the Brits sure do know how to have a royal knees up.
