Hello Sweet Things
Hope all is well. Are you ready for a five minute budget bathroom makeover?
This little corner of my Beach House bathroom has been in need of a little loving for some time now. And a kind of light bulb moment struck me right between the eyes, when I thought of this wire rack out on my deck this morning. I picked it up at a garage sale a little while ago, for a buck or so!!! It has been floating around outside for a few weeks until I decided on a use for it.
I had no idea what I'd use it for at the time of purchases, but I liked it and it came home with me to play another day. So this morning when I was shortening up the jonquils..... I remembered the shabby old rack, filled it up with vintage bottles and jars, dead headed the flowers and voila..... a sweet little ensemble on a budget, for a rather weary corner of our much in need of a makeover, main bathroom.
It replaced this tired old sea grass, which was lovely about 8 years ago when I put it together. I love the crazing on the grey vase, but the whole thing had certainly had seen better days and it was time.
The bathroom, while only 10 years old, is not to my taste. You know the feeling, you buy a house, you know you can live with the bathroom, but you fully intend to renovate it as soon as possible. Unfortunately the idea of possible has not yet eventuated and as it is functional and relatively modern, it has not been a priority for our severely limited decorating budget. The bathroom has a ring of Matisse inspired hand painted tiles around the walls, which I quite like because of their French influence. They were probably very expensive due to their bespoke nature, but they would not have been my first choice. I tend to go for all white floor to ceiling tiles and something neutral on the floor such as stone. At the moment the floor is tiled the colour blue of these lovely ladies....... Not so nice!!!!
So this pop of yellow in an old wire rack, has added a smile to a tired bathroom, on a budget, on the beaches of Sydney. What do ya think?
Wishing you all a fantastic weekend. And you would like to see some more coastal bathroom styling ideas. Check these out here and here
