My French Dreams are Coming True

So here's something I wrote over on Facebook the other day.

OK so this one is a biggy. I am heading out this morning to pay for 4 airline tickets to London in 2014. After 6 years of dreaming, scheming, scrimping and saving, my dream of returning to France is about to become real. I am living proof that if you want something bad enough, you can achieve it. This is actually happening, because I made it happen. No one else, just me latching onto something, realising that we have not a minute to waste in this life and deciding that this was a priority for me.

And what do you think of our digs in Normandy?  We have taken a beautiful apartment overlooking a quaint little harbour.  From here we are going to explore the D Day landing beaches for the 70th anniversary of those terrible events.  The Big Beach House Brat is going to love it, as we all will.  We will buy fresh seafood from the daily market on the quay and I will cook it up in the gorgeous French kitchen. We will drink Calvados and eat apples in Normandy. I am bursting with excitement about this trip.  I am sure half the fun will be in the planning and the research.

We had kids way too late in life, because you have to play the hand you are dealt.  I am not waiting 'til they are grown to pursue my dreams,  they are en train RIGHT NOW.

Our kids are fabulous company.  We are pulling them out of school for some time, but I have a feeling they will learn more like this anyway.

Last time we travelled, I was worried about spending so much time with Mr Beach House, because we don't always see alot of each other, due to the rigours of owning a small business, which is his lifes passion.  Actually, we never had a better time when we were together as a family, day in day out travelling around France last time.  So here's hoping that part of history repeats itself.

It looks like the living room is in our bedroom, but hey with this stunning coastal decor and the location, I think that will be the least of my worries.

Our apartment is on the second floor there with the dorma window.

So there you go Beach Dwellers, my mantra is 'make it happen' and it really really is.  Yay

Have a brilliant weekend and Chin Chin to dreams.

  20. I am so envious! I am hoping to get to France in 2015 (it's Australia in 2014!). I would love to hear your review of the apartment where you are staying; I've always just stayed in hotels, but would love to live more like the locals!
