Jamies Italian Covent Garden

Jamies Italian Covent Garden

I do believe any domestic goddess, who loves to cook up a storm in her own kitchen is an admirer of Jamie Oliver. If not overtly, then definitely on the QT.  So it was with a little squeal that I jumped for joy when I saw this sign in Convent Garden London.

It was closed when I first saw the restaurant and I was sure that without having booked months in advance from Australia, that we would not be able to score a table. But the next night I noticed as I walked by, there was no horrendous queue and I made a mental note to return the next evening as a family, to try our luck in taking a meal there.

We were successful in securing a table for 4 in the basement, next to what I am calling the fabulous wine wall.

There are other dining options, such as the brightly styled courtyard.

Or in the cozy and dimly lit interior.

Here you will be entertained by the goings on in the kitchen and all the charcuterie et al hanging from the ceiling.

The visual splendour of this restaurant is titillating to say the least.

The anti pasti planks were very popular and looked superb.

A large party at the next table were very kind in letting me grab a snap of their versions of the plank.

But for us we proceeded as follows

Pulled Pork Bruscetta.  Totally yum, but it needed salt.

I had that classic British fish dish lemon sole, but with an Italian twist of peas and prosciutto.  Accompanied by polenta chips.  Both were scrumptious.

Mr Beach House had the Chicken Primavera

My boy had the baked Lasagna, which was really lovely if you are after some comfort food.  I could really taste the red wine flavour coming through.

The Littlest Beach House Brat ate the sliders off the kids menu, which is completely superior to any kids menu I have ever seen.  Finally some real quality for the kids, when we dine out together.

I would have to say that this was probably the best meal we had in London. It was mid range in price at eighty pounds for 4 plus tip. We were seated immediately. Our waitress was friendly and very attentive.  All in all it was a fabulous night out.

  1. Hi Caro, I'm reading this in a small cafe in the far west suburbs of Sydney, couldn't be further from Jamie's at Covent Garden!! Loved reading tis as I haven't been to Covent Garden for far too long and we've never been to a Jamie's. I'll get there one day and that plank has my name all over it.

  2. I was completely oblivious to your being in London with your family. Something happened and I stopped getting your e-mails in my e-mail. You have taken some beautiful photos and It sure looks like you are having a good time. I wish I could visit. Looks like a good time to visit.

  3. I'm glad you enjoyed it. The polenta looks really good and those planks are so good if you're in a group and would like to share. I wondered how his restaurants were in the UK because I've been to the one in Sydney and was sadly, very disappointed. I just hoped for so much more xx
