H2O Cafe Narrabeen Sydney

Recently I caught up with my lovely girlfriend Cath for lunch.  We normally catch up, in the school holidays with our kids, who get on like a house on fire.   Or together with a group of mutual girl friends for dinner, but we had both been away for the last school holidays and we were having withdrawals, so decided to do lunch whilst the kids were at school.

Cath is the proud owner of the Entertainment Book and we never pass up an opportunity to use one of the discount vouchers, if we can.  So she sent me a list of local cafes which the book covered, expecting that I may know which of them was good.  As a sign that I need to get out more, I had never heard of any of them, so we chose the one with a view at H2O Cafe in Narrabeen.  That's the thing about that Entertainment Book, if you ever get around to using it, it does force you to branch out and try some new and interesting places and all at a discount.

The location overlooking the Narrabeen lagoon is very pretty and the water really had a calming effect on me.  I have said a few times this week to friends, that the Northern Beaches of Sydney as a region, is as nice as the south of France, only completely different.

Apart from the conventional tables and chairs, there are designated lounge areas, which would be a great way to catch up with a group of friends.

I love it when a bottle of water is placed on your table, without you having to ask.

It would be a great spot to catch up with kids too, as they can flood over into the adjacent park,when the inevitable boredom, caused by sitting at the table with adults, sets in.  Obviously due to the lagoon, it's not the ideal location for parents with toddlers, unless they are in a pram and you can watch them 100% of the time.

The menu has lots of variety, with several seafood and meat dishes (mid $20s), sandwiches, wraps, burgers and salads (low $20).

There is also a menu, which consists of a light main and a dessert for around $26.  

This is a lovely venue for catching up with friends, whilst your kids play in a park together.

Location: Shop 3/1431 Pittwater Road Narrabeen

Distance from Sydney CBD: 27km from central Sydney and about 42 minutes by car via the Wakehurst Pwy.

Phone: (61) (2) 9913 1360. Reservations are available.

Open: For breakfast, lunch and dinner from 8am - 10pm.  Wednesday to Saturday.  Breakfast and lunch Sunday from 8am.  Check this for any changes in the deep dark depths of Winter.

The vibe: For me it felt quiet and calming by the lagoon.  Despite being near Pittwater Road, the cafe was very serene and relaxing.  The styling is quite pretty and nautically themed.

Kid's Menu: Yes, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Highchairs: Yes

Parking: Ample parking in the adjacent council carpark. Three hours free mid week and 2 hours free on weekends. 

Public Transport: Yes, Take the L90 from behind Wynyard Station..

Toilets: Yes

Shade: Yes there is a lovely raised undercover deck dining area and  further tables under the Casurina trees, right next to the lagoon.

Views: Expansive views of Narrabeen Lagoon.

Other attractions: Narrabeen Beach is a short walk across Pittwater Road.

In general:  This is one of the Northern Beaches hidden gems and you can also enjoy catered functions at the cafe.
