Beach House Bar Stools - A Two Minute Makeover

When a magazine calls and wants to feature my home, of course my natural reaction is...... How nice, yes please.  I can tell you my second thought was,  oh well I better get a few of those little makeovers done, that have been on my mind for ages.

The Markets of L'Isle sur la Sorgue Provence France

The colour and movement of the markets at L'Isle sur la Sorgue has to be seen to be believed.  It is a foodie's paradise.  The French artisans take the presentation and quality of produce very seriously. Their displays are yet another example of the culture of beauty and appreciation of art, that pervades the whole of French society.  Take a look around and meet me at the bottom for details of when you can attend this fabulous market and I also have a great tip on where to stay.

Pelican Pavilion Collaroy

The Pelican Pavilion may be an annexure to the Collaroy Hotel, but this cafe is no after thought.  If not for the waves and the odd misplaced high rise along the beach, you might be mistaken that you are sitting somewhere in the Greek Isles.  I recently met a girlfriend here for lunch. When she walked in, Amanda was blown away by the location and decor.

Yummy Apple Cake Recipe

Well it's the simple things and living in the moment, which can often be the greatest of life's pleasures.  Malcolm flew back to Paris and left us with a box of food his family had not used.  I cannot stand to waste anything and there were a few scruffy apples just begging to be used up.

Ross A Beautiful Historic Town in Tasmania

If you ever find yourself driving down the centre of Tasmania between Launceston and Hobart, think about turning off for Ross and travelling the 2-3 km from the Midlands Highway, into the centre of Ross for a pit stop.  Or even better, Ross would make a great base for a Tasmanian holiday.

Federation Mosman Mansion

Today we are heading out of Sydney's Northern Beaches and venturing a little closer to the CBD.  Currently I am coveting the Federation Mansion and this one in Mosman, would suit me very nicely.  A gracious beauty, which has been brought into the 21 Century, with a beautifully renovated French Provincial kitchen and many other mod cons.  Situated on a large block with views to the city and Harbour Bridge, this is a stunning residence, which all the family will enjoy.  You can find out more about this grand old dame here.

Easy Pork Sang Choy Bao for a Fast Kids Dinner

My kids absolutely love sang choy bao.  I used to make this dish alot for dinner party entres, pre kids.  The recipe seems to have been in a slumber for 15 years or so.  I forgot how easy and tasty it is to whip up.  The Beach House Brats have been asking for more Asian food in our weekly meal plan, so I recently dusted the sang choy bao recipe off.  I have made it twice in as many weeks.  It's a great way to get a few green vegies into them and textually they love the crunch.

Things to Do in Bayeux France

Bayeux is a medium sized town located in Normandy and very close to the D Day landing beaches.  What is remarkable about Bayeux, is that unlike many of the towns of Northern France, which were reduced to rubble as the Allies moved inland, on their way to Berlin, Bayeux was not bombed at all during WW2.  The reason for this was that the Mayor was a integral part of the French resistance.

Gorgeous Beachside Mansion

OMG this is house porn at its best.  A historical home built almost 100 years ago, bought into the next century with a beautifully tasteful renovation, including all the mod cons.  Now that is my kind of house. She even has her own self contained studio and pool.

Retaining many period features and just a short work to the beach, this house in Collaroy, on Sydney's Northern Beaches, is simply stunning.  For all her qualities and a detailed floor plan go here.
