This disaster is not amongst those happy memories of course. It's amazing how the lottery of life turns out. If my mum was on that plane I would not be writing this, if your mum's fiance was not on the plane you would not be reading it. All terribly sad.
Regards
CarolynDesire Empirehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01993065698203243757noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-656835749120851376.post-50164455557921463432016-06-26T14:09:32.056+10:002016-06-26T14:09:32.056+10:00WOW what a coincidence! Ive been doing a bunch of research into it and your post popped up. Fascinating. His name was Robert Gregory Sweeting and he was a Navigator in the RAAF. Im so glad your mum didn't get on that flight. Such a tragedy. My mum is now suffering dementia and for someone who we could never stop talking it is a strange 'life' she now leads. It was the civil rights movement and SFO was smack in the middle. I got married and was also required to step down. That doesn't happen today. My first uniform was one of the last of the military styles was typical of all the airlines. My last uniform was very mod. We also served with real dishes and hotel silver in first class. Second class was plastic tv-dinner like trays. Most people were courteous as flying was not yet a common experience. Flying to day is like a cattle bus, everyone is jammed in along with their stuff. It was not my favorite job, but it was a very interesting time.SantaBarbaraTalk.blogspot.comhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05224240065461530970noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-656835749120851376.post-83624708529583255292013-01-26T08:15:29.281+11:002013-01-26T08:15:29.281+11:00Terriffic stories!
