Hello and welcome to the Beach House. Thank you to Marty from A Stroll Through Life for inviting me to be part of her Summer Home Tours 2015 blogging series.
My house is a smallish weatherboard cottage near the Australian beach, which is very typical of the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Our lifestyle is based around the outdoors and in the warmer month of the year, we spend more time outdoors on our decks, than inside. My dining room flows onto the front deck, which is a relaxing spot to hang out after a trip to the beach on a hot day.
I love the all the rough and honest patinas of vintage pieces and have them all over my home.
Once you walk through the front door you will find yourself in an open plan kitchen, living, dining area, which flows through to yet another sunny deck. I am big on letting the light flow in, so we love our louvre windows and bi fold doors. They add to the beachy feel of the house.
The other end of the living room.
There's also a great fire place in the living area, which we huddle around in Winter. Luckily it's only cold here for about 8 weeks of the year.
My kitchen with its island bench is an easy entertainer and most of our entertaining is done around it.
There is also a computer nook, where I do most of my blogging.
The media room below
I used to work from the media room, but sadly the kids have taken that over now.
We have a beautiful deck to the north, where we spend alot of time all year round.
My daughter's bedroom is very feminine and she loves hanging out in here..
My son's bedroom had a recent quicky makeover, to give him an effective study area, as he moved into high school.
Our bedroom is blue and white and I have a Summery look going on in here.
So many of the pieces in my home are repurposed. I take great pleasure in bringing things back to life and doing make overs on a budget. I love to travel and the money saved by making over pieces picked up from the side of the road, or for a song at the charity store, is put to good use saving up to visit my dreamed of destinations.
I think our ensuite bathroom was once a cupboard. It's tiny, but has all that is necessarily.
I hope you enjoyed a tour of the Beach House
