Beautiful Beachy White Love

Something is going on down here in Australia.  These roses were a steal.  Two bunches of white roses for under $20 and my favourite home wares store is closing down.Yikes!!!
All is not lost, as they say they are just consolidating their two stores into one, but that sinking feeling is in the air.  The only good thing about it is that they are having the most amazing sale. But after it closes in a month I'll really miss it.  No visit to the gym is complete without a 'walk through' of this store for a quick home wares fix after working out for an hour.
I picked up six of these little shell napkin holders for a song and they inspired some white love at the Beach House.  I have a few more little bargains from the sale to reveal, but that is for another day.

The basket was my dad's fishing basket, when he was a boy, The green bottle was picked up on last weeks thrifting tour, which you can read about here, the other bits are either thrift finds or sale items.
This tablecloth is from mid last century and was passed down from my grandmother to me.
I am using this mirror underlay lots and lots at the moment.  It increases the light and with pretty little pieces sitting on a mirror you get two for the price of one.
Well gals not much to tell you about the happenings of the Beach House this week, except that I have been running round like a blue arsed fly to and from kiddo activities.  I tell you what..... if the Beach House Brats don't reach their potential, it will not be down to me.  They have every opportunity in the world and I would love to be 8 years old again and know what I know now.
I was on band duty this morning, which means getting to school at 7.45am to set up the hall, mark the roll and generally assist the conductor.  This only happens once a term and I have to say the improvement since last term is astounding.  The kids are belting out Beethoven's 9th like there's no tomorrow and it just blows me away.  They've only been playing since February.  Either the conductor is a genius or it's simple to play brass and woodwind instruments.
I don't think the latter is true, so it must be down to the conductor.  He is ex military and as hard as nails, but the kids love him.  He is the kind of teacher that is primarily missing from education these days.  He is firm but fair and is getting great things out of the kids, as they are compelled to listen and do the right thing.  It was a joy to watch and I think he has a heart of gold under all the bluster.  Anyway, I really enjoyed my early morning at school.
The other thing that is happening at the Beach House this week, is that we are getting a new roof.  The genius that put the tiles on some 20 years ago, nailed them on with steel nails in a coastal environment.  They are now all rusted and cracking the tiles as they expand.  The recent rain revealed some leaks so it had to be redone pronto.  Mr Beach House has done his usual and negotiated a 'you beaut price', involving the swapping of boats and the like, so we have been able to do it straight away.  We are going for tin for several reasons, but I can't say I'm unhappy about the change from tiles.  I hope to bring you shots of my new roof real soon.

Well gals, that's all from the Beach House today.  Hope you are having a great week.
Best Carolyn
