Gorgeous Beach House Made of Sydney Sandstone

Hi Gals

I've been sourcing rental property websites for people from France, wanting to stay on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.  Surprise, surprise, they don't want to come here in our winter, July/ August, which is when I want to swap my home.  But the good thing is that on my search, I came across this stunning beachy home, featuring fantastic amounts of Sydney Sandstone.  I absolutely adore this room.  The cornices and the rosette you can just make out in the centre of the ceiling, add such charm to all its other features. The framed French doors and the huge fireplace are the kind of things I covet.

I once contacted the original owner of our property, a Reverend in his eighties that used our home as his holiday residence, whilst he lived in manses all over Australia.  He was a charming old chap, who told me he added the front covered deck to our home in the 1970's.  The foundations of the deck are about 2 metres high, constructed Sydney sandstone with a very elaborate sandstone staircase.  He told me the entire renovation cost $10,000. Today such a renovation would be in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.  I could have kissed him.    I can't show you a picture for security reasons., so you'll have to trust me that this reno made for great street appeal and was the main factor apart from location, that made me want to buy this house.

Suffice to say I am a complete sucker for a bit of sandstone.  I tell you what though, the street appeal of our home made me over look all the other things that we have had to replace over the last seven years.  They say first impressions can sell a house and it is so true.

Anyway back to this gorgeous rental.  Go here if you want to rent it this Summer.  That's if one of my French buddies doesn't get there first.

Have a great weekend.  It's dumping rays here, the boys have just headed off to the beach and the girls are just about to join them.

Today I am partying here
