Easy Christmas Gift Wrap Ideas

We attended our first Christmas party of the season on Saturday night.  As the hostess has generously taken to calling me Martha, I did not want to disappoint, so I put a bit of effort into wrapping her gift.

Now I say "first party of the season", with such confidence.  Perhaps I should say, almost only party of the season, as our Christmas invitation 'dance card'  is rather empty this year.  I have one more girls do to attend in mid December and that is it.  Actually, the prospect of a few family nights in this Christmas or trawling the streets looking for Christmas lights over December with the kids, does not phase me at all, but when I get the chance to pretty up a hostess gift, I had better take it, is all I'm saying.

So I made an easy Christmas wreath present topper and here is how.

1.Cut a ring out of paper to fit the size of your gift.

2.Cut some pine foliage, which is of a similar size and shape to fit your ring.

3.With PVA, glue the foliage to the ring, so the ends splay out in the same direction, being careful not to leave the ring in situ too long, such that it sticks to your bench top.  I removed mine to a china saucer, to let it dry in the sun.

4. Cover up as much of the white ring as you can, with green scraps and glue the wreath to your gift. Or better still, cut the ring out of the same wrapping paper.  Often, one only learns these things after the fact.

5.  Once it has dried, secure it with some Christmas ribbon, slightly off centre, so that the bow forms part of the wreath

I used brown paper, as I love it's simple and rustic style, but I think this would look equally as good, with red and white, silver, gold or blue Christmas wrapping paper.

Here are a few other ideas I have used over the years.  You can see more of those here.

  3. Just stunning Carolyn. I only have presents for the kids to wrap and I don't think they'd appreciate all that hard work.
