Easy Frozen Birthday Cake For a Girls Party
In anticipation of the Littlest Beach House Brat's birthday party, I was given the brief as follows. "I want a Frozen slumber party mum."
I wasn't sure any of the other mums would agree the slumber part was a good idea, but we put it out there and got a couple of takers for a sleep over. In my mind, 2 guests was the perfect number of extra little girls to look after overnight, so I set about sorting out all the details for the party. A couple of other girls came to the party, but didn't feel comfortable staying over, so they were picked up at the end of the night and that worked well too.
Now to organise the cake. I decided on a square cake. We were inspired by the end of the movie when the snow begins to melt. So all I did was frost the cake in white and then create a bit of blue frosting with food dye and created a little part of the sea in one corner, so as to suggest the snow was receding.
I used pine trees and IKEA snow flakes from my Christmas decoration stash and had also sent off for a set of six cake toppers from a link on ebay here. The cake toppers only cost $10 AUD and took about 3 weeks to arrive, so this is not a cake you can organise in a week. The candles and "Happy Birthday" sign were from Coles.
As usual we pay alot more in Australia. If you buy the equivalent cake toppers in Australia they are over $30.
Someone really loved it.
Madam also wanted to use the lemonade stand I had put together months ago and promised she could have at her next birthday. So we set up some cupcakes and lemonade for her little guests to receive upon arrival.
Princess Else loved the whole affair and I shall reveal more in my next post, when I show you how I set up a Frozen party table and decorative installation over the table. Also how I entertained the kids, without spending a bomb on an entertainer.
Edit: See the Frozen party table here.

Such a cute party theme. I bet you they had fun! Your children are so cute too!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I think I probably had as much fun as her.

She looked quite happy with her lemonade stand and her cake, so lovely. The toppers are perfect. Smart idea to send for them. Is that a costume dress your daughter has on? How old is she now? Sure has grown since last time I saw photo of her. She looks especially pretty in her blue dress. wonderful set up for her party on the lemonade stand. Wish I could find one like that to use in my kitchen for small appliances.
ReplyDeleteMany things are more expensive where we live on western side of Rockie Mtns. also. Guess people would say since you live in a Paradise you have to pay for it? Not fair but that's life huh? Happy week
Yes it's a Frozen dress and very coveted and hard to get round these parts. She is 6 mow. My how time flies. Thanks for stopping by.

You did such a great job on this cake, Caro. I love it. I haven't seen the movie but I sure have heard the songs! Your daughter looks so thrilled and it's lovely how you made her day so special xx
ReplyDeleteThat looks great. I'm thinking of doing similar for miss almost 2- she adores elsa! :)
ReplyDeleteAww looks like she had a great birthday party! I hope she had a Happy Birthday! My eldest is very much in love with Frozen, and would love for me to make her a Frozen cake for her next birthday. I am 'trying' to sew her a Queen Elsa dress, it won't be exactly the same as the ones in the shop, but she's very excited and can't wait til its finished :) Julie
ReplyDeleteLove simple cakes like this . I made a How to Train your Dragon cake recently - rectangle with figurines.
ReplyDeleteThat is a fabulous cake. All I can say is thank god for Ebay, the amount I save is just awesome. x N
ReplyDeleteOh I can't wait for the disney themed birthday parties I'll have to create later on.
ReplyDeleteOh you totally excelled yourself yet again hun. Give that gorgeous little munchkin a hello from me xx
ReplyDeleteSounds you planned it perfectly, Carolyn! Glad you pointed out that it's not the kind of cake you can make last minute. Preparation is key!
