A Walking Tour of Knightsbridge and Sloane Square

Harrods Shoe Heaven

I was on a mission today to get out early.  Still being jetlagged it's easy to be on the road by 7.30am.  We hopped on the tube and engulfed by peek hour commuters,  made our way to Knightsbrige.  The crush of people is at times overwhelming.

Harrods did not open until 10am, so I didn't get to see the new Shoe Heaven on the 5th floor, but if the window dressings are anything to go by, it really is heaven up there.

After some window shopping at Harrods, we popped across to the Columbian Embassy to pay our respects to Julian Assange.  The place was teaming with police and I asked one if Julian was coming out today. "No" was the answer, so there was nothing further to see in this depressing human rights tragedy and we moved on.

We were even too early to grab a coffee at this cute little French bistro on the same street as the embassy.  Clearly my little photo bomber didn't need any coffee to perform.

We saw a lovely park at the end of the street and thought we'd take a look inside, but alas it was locked and only for the use and enjoyment of those living around it.  Try explaining that to 2 Aussie kids, who are used to having wide open spaces where everyone is at liberty to use them.  There were proposals of jumping the fence, but we are not  that uncouth.

They were beautiful gardens, but we could only peer over the fence in awe.

The town houses in Kightsbridge and Sloane Square precinct are as lovely as their gardens.

Alot of the area is being reconstructed, using the facades only, as you can see in this shot.

Below is an example of how well they are rebuilding the bits that are missing.  After a few years of weathering, it will be impossible to tell the old from the new.

There's the photo bomber again.  She won't take no for an answer.

I loved the twisted brick chimney on this town house.

Sloane Square was amazing in terms of fashion and beauty.

I was only able to snap a small part of her style and cultural mix.

This was just a plain old shopping trolley which had been spray painted gold and it looked stunning.

This beautiful women looked even better from the front.

This group of  Valentino dresses was just stunning and I so loved the one in the back.

They are little flowers around the neckline.

The boys of course were having none of it and were more interested in the cycle hire stations, which are everywhere in London and really well patronised.

I hope you enjoyed your tour of Knightsbridge and Sloane Square.

  1. Very intrigued by the topiaries on the balcony, hard to imagine you can't throw a ball around in a park, why don't they just call the park a museum. Love the fashion very classy x
