Just a quick check in from me. As we were in South Australia at the end of the regatta, we decided to watch a couple of stages of the Tour Down Under as the dates matched up and we love the bikes.
It has been an absolutely fabulous spectacle with all the colour and movement you would expect from an international event. South Australia isn't called the Festival State for nothing. She sure knows how to put on a party.
It has been such a privilege to see the countryside around Adelaide. I have already mentioned how wonderful the city is, well the surrounding area is equally brilliant. Even if it is as dry as a chip.
Now on our way home and as the sun sets on another of our family adventures, I would like to thank the real star of the show, Australia. Her rustic, raw, warm original beauty and charm is thrilling, familiar and calming all at once.
We have driven one big circle from Sydney to the Gippsland Lakes of Victoria across to Port Lincoln via Melbourne , The Great Ocean Road and Adelaide, then back again through Remark and Mildura. We have seen and experienced so much.
What rural Australia contributes to this country in terms of food and tourism is astounding and we have loved every minute of our part in it.
From sharks sitings in the wild, to podium finishes in regattas, to being interviewed track side by channel 9, to stunning local produce, to meeting Cadel Evans and all the BMC Racing team, to country race meets and new friendships forged. Our kids are learning so much about life and are starting to become very well travelled.
Waiting for the tour in Stirling.
Meeting the great Cadel Evans
Breakfast in Glenelg. The food in SA is outstanding.
So now as we hunker down for the routines and challenges of our real life in 2016, I am ever so grateful to have had this wonderful experience with my peeps.
