Ladders, Vintage Cane Lounges and a Lovers' Tiff or Two

Hello!!!!  Do you remember my front deck mood board and how I had to practically fight Mr Beach House for this ladder?  Well I won, it became my new best friend and she now resides at the Beach House.  After I had done the mood board shoot, he had one more go at getting her back for the factory, but I won that one too!!!!    Imagine how he'll feel when he returns from his man cave this evening to find I've made a decision about the final location of the ladder.......Yep inside.  He's going to freak.  But don't worry,  I'll win that one as well.
We've got a perfectly good aluminium one under the house, that he is more than welcome to.

If by now, you're thinking he's a hen pecked husband....Don't.......he's got it all over me on the big issues this week.  He's basically trashed our family plans for the weekend by deciding to sail both days.  I don't like him very much at the moment....

Now the reason the ladder has moved into the Beach House is because the old cane lounge I found on the road side, now calls the front deck home.  She's painted and Mr Beach House helped me lift her into her permanent pozzie.  And just like  inside the Beach House between Mr BH and I, it's getting a little crowded out there on the deck,  so the ladder had to go.

I've left the cushions in the exact same position as Mr Beach House arranged them.   He put them there when he was sulking, after he shouted at me on Valentines Day eve.  He gave me a bottle of French rose on Valentines Day and apologised for shouting, so I thought we were over it.  But with the sailing announcment we are back to square one. No shouting this time though!!!!!

Actually, he's done me a favour with the cushions. It's quite comfy out there and I've been sitting with my tea and a book pondering the decorating most mornings this week.

That's when I decided on the ladder move.  It's now in the dining room, with my little beach lanterns hanging off it.  I tied them up with string and filled them with flowers, picked from the side of the road.  You'd have to agree, it's a  very productive part of the planet in my world.

It's amazing what you can find on the side of the road.  I saw these as I drove to the gym this morning.  I was going to buy some blooms, but decided to save $9 and pick these on the way home.

I could have used wire but the string gives them a rustic look that fits with the shabby ladder.

I hope Mr Beach House likes it.  Who am I kidding? He probably won't even notice.  At least he usually lets me win on the decorating issues and for that I am eternally grateful.

Today I am partying here

  6. Every time I look at your gorgeous ladder I feel like a right old dufus as you see I had a nice bamboo ladder that I gave away recently because it was bamboo and I could have painted the damn thing, but I didn't think of that until I saw your ladder. Smack me on the head when we meet up will ya!!! :) xx

  8. Husbands just don't get houses and decorating! Your styling looks great. I've decided I need to repaint the navy library, it's causing me angst and stress, so it has to go. Don't argue with a pregnant woman I say! Wish I had time to do all these lovely pretty crafty things you've been doing, always looks so fun and the result is great. I miss all that stuff.

  13. Happy Pink Saturday Sweetie...
Oh I am so LOL right now. We are constantly arguing with our husbands about what we need and don't need about the house, are we not?

I can't wait to see his reaction when he finds this gorgeous creation in your dining room. I love the little lanterns that you made, and the twine was a perfect decision for that rustic look. It really makes your room, and your flowers, along the road side, perfect for the occasion. You are so talented.

I have to tell you I simply adore that cane lounge on your front porch area. It is a beautiful addition, and free? Does it get any better than that. Paint and a little love was all that it needed. It looks like the perfect place to curl up with a good book.

Thanks for sharing sweetie. A beautiful share. I love it. Many hugs and much love, Sherry
