A Child Free Nuptial Bed and an Exotic Tablescape in Pink and Orange

Well I haven't done a tablescape on here for a while and I still haven't, but I couldn't go past this one without sharing.  I am completely inspired by pink and orange and this just grabbed me when I visited Wheel and Barrow recently.  The assistant walked right up to me....they weren't busy and seemed glad I had come in to say hi......She handed me a fabbo prawn and pork dumpling recipe which I hope to try soon.

The plan was to cook it and post it with this tablescape, but with it being school holidays and all here, that didn't happen.

Anyhoo you may remember the painting which inspired my little Beach House Brat's girly bedroom make over here.  Well yes it was pink and orange too and to say I love this colour combo and the detail of this table would be completely true.

I seem to love colour and am naturally drawn to it.  I have recently started pinning some of my stuff on pinterest and one thing that struck me when I stood back and surveyed all my boards, was that I sure do love bright colour.  I love all white too, but in my own decorating I just naturally use colour.  Must be because when I became interested in fashion and style all those years ago colour blocking was the 'it girl' thing.

So not much has happened here lately, except I escaped to my mum's last week.  I told Mr Beach House I was going for 2 nights, but ended up extending it to 3.  He missed us greatly....possibly because he had to fend for himself in the food department. He rang for a debrief of the contents of the fridge on the third night after he had exhausted the generosity of his two best mates on nights 1 and 2.  I had to laugh with what he came up with, which was basically bacon mixed through pasta I think.......and  that ladies is why I have cooked for the last 12 years.

But he has been ever so nice since our return.  He genuinely missed us, particularly me, which was surprising.  He insisted that the big beach house brat no longer be allowed to come into the nuptial bed at will....which so far is working.  I made the big mistake of letting him sleep with me for 2 weeks when he was 3, whilst Mr Beach House was away (that will teach him to act like a bachelor) and it has been a struggle ever since, to get him back into his own bed.  Lets just say I never made that mistake with Beach House Brat number 2 and she wouldn't dream of seeking entry to our bed in the middle of the night.

So there you have it ladies.  When Mr Beach House decides he wants something, look out.  He leaves 99.9% of the discipline up to me, which frankly is exhausting, but when he comes down hard on the kiddos they do respond and for 3 nights we have all slept very well.  Thank you very much.

With all that sleep I should be able to achieve loads today, so I better get on with it. Oh and thanks for all your love on the Twitter for Virgins Post.  It seems lots of you have been inspired to start an account or start rocking an existing one.  I have really only been using it properly for 10 days and have increased my followers by 100 and it has really improved my blog traffic too, so,head on over an read it if you haven't already.

So ladies go on spill the beans, do your kids still sleep with you or try to?????

  7. Love the colours and tablescape!
As babies our children all slept with us but as they grew and got their own beds they pretty much stay in their own bed. The Girl will sneak in once in a blue moon, but I usually take her back to bed after a little cuddle.

  10. Sure see alot of pink/orange combos lately in everything. REally pretty colors together. I can remember when you didn't dare put yellow/green together but see it alot now also. The dishes and all of the tablescape are so nice, especially loved the hammered metal pieces.
Guess my generation didn't let their kids in bed with them. My kids (4) didn't even try. They knew they had to knock on door and wait for reply before they entered master bedroom. At least that's how I think my generation were taught. (I'm gonna be 72 in 11 days). Every generation has their own ideas of child rearing. Hope it works not having kids coming into your room and bed. Sure makes for more privacy.
