Hi Beach Dwellers
I have been spending way too much time on Long Island lately. But the good news is, I found this wonderful architect who has a whole lot of classic American style. His name is Darren Helgesen and he has told me he would be happy to work on the right project here in Australia, should the opportunity arise. Yay!!!
This beautiful home renovation is in Sag Harbor NY, a beautiful historic whaling port, which I am now determined to visit IRL.
This is the home prior to the renovation. The original is lovely, but Darren has helped her to shine.
The removal of the pontoon style front deck has created a more defined entrance to the property. Changing out the different window styles, streamlines the look of the home, improving it's appeal from miss matched cottage to stylish grand home.

The internal renovation is absolutely gorgeous. The stone fire place is a beautiful feature of the room, so has been retained. Here it is before the renovation.
And with the opening up of the room on either side, after. The light in these rooms now is fantastic. I absolutely adore the joinery in the dining room too.
Here is the staircase prior to the refit and removal of part of the wall next to the fire place.
Here is the new balustrade, with the addition of under stair storage and new dark wood flooring. The removal of the board allowing the stair treads to be seen, gives the appearance of a more classic and stylish staircase.
The door through to the kitchen dining area enhances the light, proportions of the room and functional flow of the home.

The original kitchen
and the new one, complete with marble bench tops, classic tap ware and of course with those beautiful bay views.
Floor to ceiling doors opening to outdoor living, is such a fabulous way to live. This kind of thing is an absolute must in Australia too.
The high ceilings are fabulous and I love how the windows frame the bed head.
And with beautiful views outside, this is one stunning home.
So what do you think? Lots of gorgeous inspiration here.
