Beachy White Vintage and the Simple Pleasures

Hi All
Our weekend past was very simple and cost effective.  I snaffled this little white bouquet with a hint of purple from the side of the road. I put it together whilst trying to wrangle the Beach House Brats into the car, after a quick post soccer morning tea at grandma's.

On the way out they found her neighbour's trampoline and that was it, I lost them for half an hour.  I wasn't complaining.!!!!!  I left them to it and wondered up and down the street snaffling blooms from the foot path gardens.  This bouquet started out with some wattle as well, but when I got it home it did not fit in this dainty little jug I recently found at a charity store.

I adore its shape and form. The pretty little crest and the shape of its legs are enchanting.

I found the pineapple at  a recent Scout jumble sale.  Not so vintage, but you know dear reader, that I can't leave any pineapples alone.  I love their tropical contribution to any beachy get together.  This one had a lovely shiny white texture so it had to come home with me.

I love the symmetry and colour of the daisy's centre.  And each little bloom on the lavender is so delicate. This is nature at its best.

By Sunday, in an effort to drag the Beach House Brats from their respective screens, I bundled them into the car and decided to find a spot that a friend had only briefly described to me in passing.  My knowledge of its location was only sketchy at best.  So we took a risk and headed off down an unknown bush track to see what we could discover.

The location was Irrawong Reserve on Garden St North Narrabeen.  Check out the location map here. There is a small entrance to the reserve and it is opposite Warriewood Wetlands, which is another fabulous and easy walk.  Seana Smith has a great post  about Warriewood Wetlands here.

The big Beach House Brat ran on ahead, then doubled back, jumping with joy for what he had found.  As we got closer, I could just make out the faint sound of running water and then all of a sudden about a fifteen minute walk off a suburban Northern Beaches street, we stumbled upon this gorgeous spot.

A beautiful water hole complete with a hard flowing waterfall.

I felt like it was a holy place.  I instantly thought it would have been an aboriginal sacred site, as it involved running water and lovely caves.  I could just picture them several hundred years ago standing on the rock ledge above us, leaning on their spears.  It was such a place of beauty, that it felt sacred to me and I felt enlightened for having discovered it.

Nature treated us all weekend and it just kept on giving.  Late on Sunday afternoon we had a hail storm, which entertained the kiddos for some time.  They ran out after the hail stopped and collected a cup each of frozen pearls.

  1. This is a WOW post for me. The last photo of the daisy close-up was my favorite and I love any shot that your red star pillow is in. The waterfall photos are magnificent! And what a treat the lily was and seeing the hail on your deck.

  3. Ooooh! You were in my neck of the woods! We went to the waterfall on Sunday afternoon, I wonder if we passed each other! My kids were playing pooh sticks in the creek and swinging on the vines! it is magic isn't it! I made the mistake of writing a blog post about it and included the name of a film that had recently used the waterfall for one of it's key locations. I then got so many emails pestering me about the location of the waterfall that I had to delete the post! Emma
