We had an anniversary at the Beach House this week. It's been 11 years since I met the wonderful Mr Beach House.
This is how the conversation on the topic went, at breakfast one morning this week.
Me: Hey darl, it's our 11 year anniversary of meeting today.
Him: Happy Anniversary!
Me: Shall we go out together for dinner to celebrate?
Him: But you have book club tonight.
Me: Ah how good of you to remember darling. What about tomorrow night?
Him: Well Beach House Brat number one has saxophone lessons and soccer practise.
Me: Wow you are really on the ball! I didn't think anything I said to you, went in.
At that point I gave up. Obviously I shall not be taken out for dinner. I mean I could arrange the whole thing...baby sitters, early kiddo dinner etc and it would happen. But what is the point of that I ask you?
So instead I did that other thing I love almost as much as eating out in a beautiful room with a view beside the one I love. I jooshed and primped and preened. I set the table in the context of my Caribbean stay cay. Read more about that here. Then I got out the camera for some shutter love.
After that little interiors fix, I did that other thing I seem to do so well. I went shopping and bought myself a little anniversary present. This little vintage pineapple and filled it with shells. Mr BH will never know.
Happy anniversary Mr Beach House. And thanks for the flowers. And this is the moral of my story. I'm thankful for what I have not what I don't. I count my blessings every day.
Happy days
Best Carolyn
