India Hicks arrives at the Beach House

India Hicks arrived at the Beach House the other day. She didn't come by surfboard, but rather by post.

Her book Island Life inspired a make over of my living room shelves. The red toys you can see in my blog's side board,  have now been returned to the Beach House Brats. With their squeals of joys still ringing in my ears, I'm off to the Caribbean for some well earned R&R.

This Caribbean inspired staycay, is a seasonal change for me.  There is definitely a nip in the air, mornings and evenings here in Sydney town.  So a few reminders of Summer hanging around my living room, are a great tonic for the soul.

This side of the Caribbean features a great series of photos by the amazing beachy photographer Garth Kellet http://www.gkp.com.au/.  I also think the  beaten up toy car evokes thoughts of surf and sun. Young bronzed lads driving up the coast to find the perfect surfing break.

Lately, I have wanted to include a palm frond like this, in the mix.  I found this one on the  side of the road.  A favourite source of props for me.
Chuck in a lantern for a dark and stormy night, some shells and a pineapple for that tropical feel and there you have it, we're practically having a heat wave. And my Caribbean holiday is well underway.

Happy Holiday dreaming.  See ya round the pool.  I'll be with India!!!
Lots 'o Love

  1. What beautiful photos! I love anything beachy and tropical. I've got a few surfboards in my home as well, and a big part of me is a beach bum at heart. Thanks for sharing such wonderful photos.

    Take care, Sue
