Beach House Interiors Styling with Colour

Hello Lovelies

Today we continue the series that began as Beach House Red last Thursday. Click here if you missed that one. You remember, that ab fab beach cottage my girlfriend and her builder husband are renovating on the Northern Beaches of Sydney. Today, I am revealing the kiddo bedrooms.  I am particularly interested in kids bedrooms at the moment, as both the Beach House Brats await the interiors fairy to work her magic on their respective rooms.  She is on the hunt for inspiration and I think the she will find plenty here.

No matter the size limitations, this gorgeous cottage's beachy makeover shows you can make any space distinctly beautiful.

Now,when I say space, think phonebooth. Not that it will always be that way.

It's tight because, the whole family is currently living upstairs as they renovate downstairs and the out buildings on the property.  I mean why live in building mess, just because you are up to pussies bow in reno mode.

Despite the cozy quarters, this cottage just oozes nautical chic the minute you arrive. This girl really knows how to strut her stuff.  She has worked wonders with the space she has.    Baskets, sacs and ladders are all used to great effect, to store stuff that would normally go behind cupboard doors.

That sack holds kiddo shoes, as there is no room for a wardrobe. So storage becomes art work, adding to the nautical character of this home.

The bunting is used to great effect, to draw your eye up giving the impression of space.  The half weatherboard wall is original and adds greatly to the beachy feel of the place.  Fishy wall art and a simple planter complete the coastal cottage charm of this room.

How is this for a girl's bedroom?  With hearts all shapes and sizes the go here, the little girl, who calls this bedroom home, should feel very loved.

Walls have been removed to improve light and space and this love heart screen is the divider between dining and girly bedroom. At kiddo bed time, the dining room doors can be closed off to create a private space for a little sleepy babe.

Beautiful red and pink pops of colour in art work and soft furnishings create warmth and that cosy lived in feel.

More love hearts in tin and a matching mirror above the bed.  This shot... think compact and functional.

A vintage ladder, de rigueur in any self respecting coastal abode, is used to hang and hold art work, sacks and girly handbags.  If it doesn't fit in a cupboard, bring it out and use it as an affordable art work.

Add colour, with a bundle of pencils in a brightly coloured coffee mug.  Practical and pretty all at once.

Make sure you colour coordinate your kid, as well.  Just kidding, for anyone who takes me seriously!!!!!  She loved her first modelling assignment, tagging along on our girly jooshing afternoon in the sun.

Come by the Beach House Monday, to see the living /dining room reveal, at this gorgeous coastal inspired home.

Bon weekend
Carolyn
